He hugged me!!!!!!!!
Wow was my world spinning, I had never thought I could get that close to him. It was the most awkward moment and it lasted like two seconds!............but I .......like it (blush)
That night, as I laid down on my bed I could not stop thinking about how nice it felt being in his arms, how nice he was, not like when he was a missionary, how fun it was to talk to him about myself and not just the Gospel. I was glad I had him with me but I needed to do something.
There was no way I was going to let this attraction grow. First, he had served one amazing mission. He was so dedicated and so many people looked up to him in a way I can't explain. I myself had been shocked that he got my brother to read the Book of Mormon. Too many people in my country were blessed by his work and I was not going to ruin that with rumors.
Then there was his family! I am so sure they would think I came following him, that I came to trap him and convince him to marry him just so I could get a Green card and stay in the States. No, I couldn't do that to him. Plus my mom told me very specifically to not get a boyfriend until I finish College or else!!!
It was settle then, I was going to make sure he knew we were friends and that I did not follow him here to marry him! and that I did not like white boys. The end!
I got up extra early to make it to my first day. Emily came and helped get there. She is so nice and SO pretty! what a shame to walk by her. At school we went through a lot of testing to be placed in our classes, we were also told the rules of the program and all the errands we needed to run. Finally the day was over and as I walked home I wondered if I should call David or wait for him to call when his classes were over. I didn't think I had his number and I didn't want to bother him.
I opened my door and my room mate came out and told me a bunch of "wachi wachi" I was trying so hard to understand her, so she finally came and pointed at the phone, and there I saw his name and phone number. I was about to call when I heard the phone ring, she picked up and then smile and gave it to me.
It was him...

First time alone.
I really don't remember much more of that time with his family, except that Kylie told me bye with the biggest smile on her face. Man I was already in love with the kid.
Aunt Karen was driving us home and as I thought about the fun time we had, I wished it was longer. Who knows when I'll see him again and it was nice to have a friend in a place where I was so lonely.
As we say goodbye to everyone I was trying so HARD not to cry. I am THE biggest cry baby and I knew I could get some tears in my eyes again at the thought of not seeing him again. We were good friends and shared too many stories together. Plus I wasn't feeling as lonely with him around.
We were at the door as he said, with the cutest little grin, "Do you want to go and get some ice cream?"
**** I melted****
then I said, "Sure, it sounds fun!" Understand for a minute that I had no been hungry since I got to UT, I was not happy with the food here and my appetite was overwritten by homesickness. I did NOT want ice cream, I was too cold! but how could I say no to that little grin on his face and the green eyes that faded as he made the grin. how?
Up we walked from Heritage Halls to D.T. went to a little store with tons of candy in little boxes that you can just open and take. I was wondering how they were still in business, I mean, the students sure come and just eat it without being seen! that is what would have happen at home anyway.
He ordered an ice cream mix thing with Sprite, very tasty but it took me about 2 hours to eat it. We sat at one of the farther tables and right across from each other, it was kind of weird, he was close and why? someone tell me WHY??!! was he looking so cute all the sudden? I do not like white pale pasty boys! or blond hair or missionaries!!!!...
Still, I could feel very nervous as I notice that he looked into my eyes. We talked about the people we taught together and I gave him the letters that members sent with me. I remember knowing that it was just an environmental thing, two young adults, a new place, the crisp night, the moon, the knowledge that at that moment it was just the two of us. Just a perfect setting to feel so...so.. the way I was feeling. I knew that the next day everything was going to be back to normal and I was pretty sure I wouldn't see him again.
As we walked back to our rooms he told me some stories from his Freshman year ( note to self, find out what Freshman meant) By then it was so easy to talk to him, he told me stories and I threw in some of mine, we had a great time. As we approached the door, I felt sad to have to say goodbye, I didn't know if I would see him again, right then he told me that he would call me the next day after school and take me to the office where I would pay for my health insurance.
***Sight of relieve****
There was the door, just right then I realized that I didn't know what to do!! The natural thing was to shake his hand but he started to move closer facing me, and then...

The first reunion.
It is the day to move into my apartment in Heritage halls. Sister Murphy takes me shopping to get things like a laundry basket (that we still use), iron (don't really use), hangers, clock and other things.
Then I had my first slap on the face at a grocery store. Back at home the cheapest things are fruits and veggies, so I went and loaded up on those. Not that I was the healthiest eater in the planet but that is what I used to eat, plus there were a lot of interesting things in the isles; like pasta and SAUCE in a box, beans in a can!, juice in cans and frozen!! Anyway, as I'm picking my food, Emily tells me to get a box of chicken nuggets and milk. Then I go to pay and get slapped, over $30.00!!!!!!!!!! I was in shock, I payed and mom told me she would send Than to help me more next time I needed to get groceries.
I come home, cried as mom left me at the door. She promised to send Emily Monday to help me get to class, also I was meeting Elder Ketcheson and his family later that day and I would have fun.
I unpacked in 30 minutes and then started to get ready. I was exited to see an old friend but terrified to meet his family, I didn't really know English :-(
After I don't really know how long, there was a knock on my door. I opened it, and there he was, the same guy a met over a year ago but looking so different, he had a friendly smile and was not wearing church clothes. I think he wanted a hug but I stuck my hand out immediately...old habits :-)
He said a few things and then we hopped in his Aunt Karen's car, there I met his mom, who very kindly offered another of those weird foods, pretzels. His aunt Karen was super fun and new Spanish. We drove to the Mall and met with his brother Ryan and his family. Ryan decided to call me "cuñada" and I understood then that his family might think I came for him and that Ryan was having way too much fun with the situation.
We chose a new suit for David. I felt so weird to be telling him if he looked good on something. I am not supposed to see him that way, but I did and I thought that suit made him look good... maybe a little too good.
